Did you know that America has been just as godless, immoral, wicked and stupid in times past as she is today? This is not the first time in America's 200+ year history when athiests sneered confidently that Christianity was about to be ushered out of human affairs.

But, here's the hope. Prayer. At least four great prayer revivals have come to America's rescue. righted the wrongs and set us on a good and godly course once again.

1. A move of God often called "The Great Awakening"  set the tone for the birth of our democratic way of life. Neighborhood prayer meetings dotted the streets throughout the colonies.

2. The "Concert of Prayer" began around the time America won independence and set up our government. Community wide quarterly meetings for prayer continued for forty years!

3. During the troubled years leading up to the civil war, the "Noon Prayer Hour" swept the country. Businesses in every city and town closed for an hour of prayer at midday. Even taverns turned into prayer rooms for that hour!

4. For several years up to WWI, the nation and many parts of the world were so in awe of God presence and power that the season came to be called "The year of the Holy Spirit".
